The regional week starts in Punta Arenas and uses six nights: Punta Arenas after Days 1, 2 and 6; Puerto Natales after Days 3, 4 and 5. International flights and any Santiago nights sit outside these seven days.
Day one: reach the Punta Arenas room and recover. A usable afternoon may allow Plaza Muñoz Gamero or a short waterfront walk; delays can leave dinner and rest. Do not tie an interior booking to an uncertain flight.
Day two: connect the square, Palacio Sara Braun's exterior, a suitable Cerro La Cruz outlook and Costanera del Estrecho. Choose climbing from weather and energy; a vehicle between places or skipping the outlook reduces walking.
When open, Museo Naval y Marítimo, Pedro Montt 981, explains the Strait through navigation, lighthouse and Antarctic subjects. Cementerio Municipal Sara Braun is a separate northern-city chapter, conditional on energy and visitor arrangements; respect its working purpose. The Punta Arenas guide develops the choices. Allow a relaxed meal—lamb or centolla if offered, or another suitable dish.
In poor weather, use the open naval museum and a central meal, shortening the exposed waterfront and omitting the outlook. Check its limited visiting days. If closed, keep the meal and rest or another independently confirmed interior.
Checked 4 October 2026, Museo Regional de Magallanes still reports temporary closure for collection moves and conservation. It is not a confirmed indoor backup. Los Pingüinos also remains under CONAF winter closure until further notice; a general summer description establishes no reopening. A future Magdalena trip needs official access and a real vessel departure, without guaranteed landing or sighting (wildlife guide).
