Coastal wine country

Casablanca Valley

Casablanca brings a coastal influence to Chilean wine country: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir give a vineyard day between Santiago and Valparaíso a different emphasis from an inland red-wine stay. Choose a farming tour, a cellar tasting or a long estate lunch; one well-chosen visit can be enough.

Plan one strong wine day

A wine day with something to compare

Emiliana puts the field and its farming practices into the visit. Casas del Bosque offers a cellar-and-tasting format and Tanino's food-led alternative. The useful choice is what you want to understand: how the vineyard is managed, how a wine is made, or how it works with lunch. Then decide whether the day returns to your city or carries you on to the coast.

  1. 01
    A farming visit

Emiliana's Organic Tasting Tour combines a field and garden visit with a guided tasting.

  2. 02
    A cellar and food visit

Casas del Bosque offers the Aromas Wine Tour and Tanino restaurant as distinct choices to arrange.

  3. 03
    A forward route

A Santiago departure can finish in Valparaíso if the driver, estate sequence and luggage handoff are agreed.

Valley character

Let the tasting explain the coastal setting

Explore Casablanca’s coastal character through Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or Pinot Noir, separating vineyard influence from cellar decisions.

Casas del Bosque’s Chardonnay account links Pacific breezes, mist and sandy soils with cool-climate acidity. Explore the producer’s explanation rather than reproduce its tasting notes.

Ask where grapes grew; a tasting portfolio may extend beyond estate/valley. Compare fermentation vessels, time before bottling and oak: contrasting one variety can teach more than rushing labels. At Emiliana, ask how organic/biodynamic practices appear in the field.

The valley context places Route 68 between Santiago and Valparaíso. Colchagua offers Santa Cruz culture, inland estates and valley evenings. Both need time; neither makes a two-valley first trip obligatory.

Beyond the tasting room

Choose a field tour or a cellar-and-meal day

Choose Emiliana’s farming introduction or Casas del Bosque’s cellar and meal; one estate can supply a complete wine day.

Emiliana’s Organic Tasting Tour combines organic/biodynamic farming, garden/farm and guided tasting, about 75 minutes. Confirm the entrance north of Route 68 at km 60.7, walking and weather-dependent elements; independent vineyard wandering is excluded.

Casas del Bosque’s Aromas combines wine-aging space and tasting, about 50 minutes. Use Hijuela Nº 2, Ex Fundo Santa Rosa, Casablanca, not the Santiago office; confirm included wines, distinct from the wider range.

Reserve Tanino separately for food/wine. Outdoor access depends on reservation/availability; lunch grants no unrestricted grounds access. A cellar visit and unhurried meal can replace another tasting/transfer.

Between city and coast

Finish at the city you chose

Choose a return day, a forward wine day or a coast-based excursion; they are different transport orders.

For a return day, keep the Santiago room and arrange hotel → estate/meal → hotel; from Valparaíso/Viña del Mar, return to the same coastal room.

For a forward day: Santiago hotel/bags → Emiliana’s confirmed gate/agricultural visit → arranged transfer → reserved Tanino lunch → actual Valparaíso room. Aromas is an alternative main visit or separately assessed addition, not an automatic pre-lunch stop. Allow visit, gaps, meal and driver waiting. If reservations conflict, keep one estate/lunch. This is one transfer date, not full days in both cities; see the seven-day calendar context. Keep the first coast evening simple.

Visits

Get a usable confirmation

Record main experience/date/language, gate, arrival/finish window and outdoor-weather alternative, plus the actual meal or second visit. Obtain the provider’s approval for the sequence, weekday and addresses; no departure time or door-to-door duration is promised. Put a fixed wine day after a settled city night when possible: international flight delay, formalities and recovery make landing time an unreliable hotel pickup. If visits/transport cannot be confirmed, simplify to one estate rather than improvise a rural ride.

Journey

Name both hotel addresses

Quote the complete hotel → estate(s) → meal → hotel chain, with both addresses for a room change, waiting/meal time, cancellation/delay contact, vehicle capacity and bag storage/responsibility. A through driver must accept the onward Valparaíso address. Hill lodging may need a workable drop point short of the door; obtain property directions, contact and luggage handoff. A city-to-city bus supplies no estate access/pickup. Arrange a complete driver/tour or an abstaining driver for every segment; if everyone tastes, budget transport from the start. Use driving and buses for rental/terminal/final-room details.

Group

Make the format fit everyone

Ask each provider about nondrinking participation, children, walking surfaces and accessible facilities; confirm restaurant dietary needs and the outdoor weather alternative. Carry water, sun protection and a layer. Choose the agricultural, cellar or food focus for the actual group, allowing the main visit its full finish and the meal its own time. Use wine routes to compare formats and the food guide for the meal.

Visit formats are published examples, not confirmed availability. Arrange an abstaining driver or a transport service for every tasting-related road segment.
